This was a splendid break-down of it.
I generally tend to frown at the "not my type" sort of vampire, and avoid it all together.
Your blog just popped up when I wrote my thoughts on vampires just now :)

I will, thank you for being so coordial. I usually try to watch what I say and how I say it, still tht doesn't always work. I hope you understand we weren't bashing you, just trying to look at different perspectives, bashing was never part of the plan.

Thank you so much for coming back and posting. I know it can be difficult to step outside the e-comfort zone at times. Lord knows I've gotten more than my fair share of flames, sometimes even on my own blog. Just remember, it's usually not what you say, but how you say it.

I hope you'll come back and read http://86rabbit.wordpress.com/2009/04/17/why-bella-isnt-weak/ .

Interesting you make a good point but you fail to see one of the largest Anti arguments out there. Yes its fiction so in theory Meyer can do whatever she pleases, including the horrid aspect of sparkling vampires, this doesn't mean it will please the traditional vampire fans out there. Or that she is a good enough writer to sway the reader into believing her changes, that and she never really explains them anyways. You makes a good point but that doesn't mean I have to agree with you.

Also the whole vampire thing isn't the real issue I have with Meyer's writing, to be honest aside from the sparkling thing the changes were okay, its more the lack of writing style and the fact that its recieved unmerited attention from everyone across the board, even the adults praise her book that sets bad examples for every teen girl out there.

Also as a Sodahead participant I have to say when on SH we can say whatever we want and honestly I tend not to post on other sites because I get flagged or bombarded by mean comments saying how I hould go "kill myself" or get a brain, just becaue I have a different opinion, which I find offensive. And I don't think you'd say those things because you seems open minded but that doesn't mean other people who reply won't. Also its not really behind your back, iTonks was just pointing out that it was an interesting point of view you had on the whole topic, no one was trying to bash you. We like it when Twilight fans can form legit arguments for why they love Twilight so much, because it lets us expand our views.

Hi there! I saw your Rosalie post on the LTT Forum and I like your in-depth style. Great job! I saw on the history channel that the idea of vampires derived from a ruthless emperor or something named Vlad the Impaler...that's all i remember.

On a separate note regarding the whole sparkling thing: Why couldn't the vampires twist that as some genetic skin condition? That would be a lot easier than just hiding from the sun, right?...Just a thought.

I have never read any of Stephanie Meyers books as a male in my early 30’s I don’t think I am the target audience. As a fan of vampire films I did however see the movie and enjoyed it. You make some interesting points about the development of vampires in fiction. I agree that different books/films should be free to interpret the mythology how they choose. It would be very uninteresting if everyone followed the same set of rules. I think we have different opinions and tastes on the matter, for example my favourite vampire movie is Near Dark. If you like vampire novels Glittering Savages by Mark Burnell is worth a read. It is a great book with an interesting interpretation on the way to kill a vampire. It is also interesting as it is hugely different to the authors other books. Take a look at this article I wrote about vampire movies:
