'86 Rabbit

A FANGirl's Forkstress of Solitude

Ryan Reynolds as Garrett

I love Ryan Reynolds. I love Garrett. I don’t see the two of them together. Ryan Reynolds is always so…Ryan Reynolds. He’s like Jack Nicholson. He’s great on screen, thoroughly enjoyable and believable, but you tend to see him rather than the character. After the movie you refer to all the other characters by name, but you say, “And then Ryan Reynolds’ character said…” I need someone who can delivery the ‘Braveheart’ speech in character, not as himself. How about Henry Cavill? He was Stephenie Meyer’s pick for Edward once upon a time. It would be nice if he could get into the saga.

Eclipse & Breaking Dawn Auditions: Final Post?

Maybe this will be my final post on Twilight Saga auditions. We shall see. I continue to get questions on how to go about auditioning. I would like to reiterate that I have nothing to do with the film industry other than being an avid movie fan, and have nothing to do with Twilight casting other than being a humble blogger of all things Twilight. As of this moment I have no ‘in’ with Stephenie Meyer, Summit Entertainment, Chris Weitz, David Slade, gaffers, best boys, kraft food service, or anyone else in the know. It would be nice to have some connection in the future though. 🙂

That being said, I’ve had so many questions that I have done some research. Allow me to impart upon you my wisdom.

Check the following links regularly:

1. Eclipse Auditions

2. Breaking Dawn Auditions

According to this press release Acting 411 is the place to go for casting and audition info. So, remember, it’s very important to keep checking those links above. Bookmark this page if you need to, to remember. Certainly you may link to this page directly on your blog.

If you look at other movies listed on Acting 411, you will see that some, such as Remember Me (starring Robert Pattinson) have a PRINCIPLE ACTOR CASTING area and a EXTRAS CASTING area. These are the areas you want to keep watching if you are interested in auditioning for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Today both areas say TBA for both movies. Before too long they will be filled in and you will know what to do.

BTW, careful readers noticed they are still casting the female lead for Remember Me. Go get him, girls! Don’t forget who sent you on the audition!

EDIT 17Jun09: This thread is closed. Please see my Auditions page.

Feminist Male College Graduate: Chapter 6

Brace yourselves. Benjamin wasn’t a fan of Chapter 6: Scary Stories. He does include a disclaimer about language, but really his post is quite funny. You should check it out and then come back for my commentary.

You know, even if this book is 498 pages long, I still would expect more to happen in the first hundred pages plot-wise. Bella moves to Forks. Bella goes to high school. Bella almost dies, is saved by uncannily beautiful boy who is obsessed with her. That’s it.

Yeah, a lot of people complain about that. I think Stephenie Meyer even said that the beginning isn’t the strongest. Still, I like it. It’s sort of like real life in that it just kind of goes along.  It’s especially like high school life. You go to class. You go to lunch. Someone makes you uncomfortable in the cafeteria. Crap it’s time for gym. You you go home. Repeat. Interwoven into all of that is the drama. Staring at the boy across the room, and trying not to get caught. Almost getting flattened by a van. Fainting in the blood lab (someone’s gotta do it, might as well be Bella).  You know, the day to day stuff. It’s about to pick up from here, don’t worry. At least it did for me. For all I know you’re already in the grips of it and will not find time to blog until you finish the book.

Eclipse Casting Coming Up

If it’s one thing I get a lot of on this blog it’s searches for casting information. I get so many every day, that I feel somewhat responsible for y’all’s well-being in this regard.

First and foremost, I believe this is the place to go for info on casting: http://acting411.blogspot.com/2008/12/eclipse-auditions.html .

Here’s their most current entry:

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Auditions

April 29, 2009

*** Update Regarding Director for Eclipse ***

David Slade had been officially hired to direct The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. He is represented by William Morris Agency, and his manager is Keith Redmon of Anonymous Content. Mr. Slade will be hiring a casting director of his choosing shortly, and auditions information will be posted as soon as it becomes available, as well as filming locations.

Eclipse will not be filmed back-to-back with New Moon, there will be two months between filming. New Moon is scheduled to wrap filming in May and Eclipse is scheduled to begin filming in August. There will also be a separate casting cycle for new Eclipse roles. The release date for Eclipse has been announced as Wednesday, June 30, 2010.

Do keep checking that link. I’m guessing a lot of you who are searching this way are new to the industry. I’d advise you to get agents. If you continue to go it alone be careful out there. The site I posted the link for has other links to follow. Click on Headshot and Resume, and scroll down for the link to Beginner’s Resume. Break a leg!

Channing Tatum as Riley

Channing Tatum To Eclipse Twilight?

Channing Tatum To Eclipse Twilight?
Channing Tatum is being touted as bad-boy vampire Riley in Eclipse, the third in Stephenie Meyer’s four-book Twilight series.DO YOU THINK Channing would make a good vampire — YAY or NAY?

“There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well,” Twilight and New Moon screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who is currently writing the Eclipse script, tells E!’s Marc Malkin. “And there are some complexities to that character. He really is tragic. He’s a puppet for Victoria [bad-girl vampire played by Rachelle Lefevre]. So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn’t want him. Channing could do that beautifully.”

The 29-year-old actor has his new flick, Fighting, in theaters NOW.

I say YAY (OK so I picked him for Felix, but YAY someone else is thinking he’d make a good vampire)!

Edward in New Moon

This :08 video just made me very happy. Months ago, I wrote (possibly on another blog, I’ll have to check) that a good solution to the No Edward=No Rob Dilemma in New Moon would be to have show us Bella’s delusion Edward. That might be exactly what we’re getting.

2009 MTV Movie Awards

I said during the midnight show of Twilight that Edward and Bella’s kiss would be MTV’s Best Kiss. It’s been nominated. I don’t know how I missed voting, but apparently voting is now closed. I guess we’ll find out together how it turns out.

Twilight is also up for:

Thoughts On The New Moon Cast

I’ve been mulling this over for a few days now. Here’s where I am so far.

Michael Sheen as Aro – Ok, yeah. Why not. I really hope he isn’t getting paid what amounts to about $7.3M for it because that means he’s either seriously overpaid or Aro is in more than one or two scenes. Or it could be what he’s getting paid to appear in any future Twilight films, too. Still too much, if you ask me, but it would make me feel better. Or maybe we see him in the form of Alice’s visions, as well as actual scenes. Still seems like too much. Anyway, Michael Sheen is great in everything he does (I have not seen Rise of the Lycans, mind you). Really great.  I hope everyone doing scenes with him is up to the task. You can expect that he’ll steal the scene, but for Aro to really be as creepy as he needs to be the others around him will need to react accordingly.

Dakota Fanning as Jane – I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again. I think she’ll be great. She’ll do a lot for the movie, and I hope the movie does a lot for her. We’ll get a little dose of Bad Dakota to ease us into her adult roles.

Daniel Cudmore as Felix – Bella described him as, “very big, tall and thick.” She compared him to Emmett. Anyone who could play Colossus in the Marvel universe definitely fits the bill. I’m sure he’ll be appropriately menacing.

Charlie Bewley as Demetri – I have no information on Charlie, but then we hardly have any info on Demetri either. And Charlie is awfully nice to look at so Thumbs Up, for now.

Christopher Heyerdahl as Marcus – He looks familiar to me but looking at IMDB I don’t see anything of his I would have seen except 21 Jump Street. So, I don’t have much to go on here either. I’m sure he’ll be fine at standing there and looking bored, if somewhat scary.

Noot Seear as Heidi– She is certainly gorgeous and statuesque enough.

Graham Greene as Harry Clearwater – Yea! I love him in everything he does. If he couldn’t play Billy Black (he’s who I pictured) I’m glad we’ll see him as Harry. I know he’ll bring new depth to Harry. Now if we could just get Tantoo Cardinal for Sue Clearwater!

Cameron Bright as Alec – Truly chilling. Did you see this kid in Birth? It was weeks before I got the creepiness off me. This might be the best casting choice from the new cast list.
