VMA Goodness

Thanks to My Favorite Unicorn and Peanut for reminding me about the VMA’s. Of course they didn’t remind me until today, so I had to watch everything online. That’s ok. I probably would have been annoyed sitting there waiting through endless teasers of, “Coming up…New Moon!”

Here’s the trailer. I don’t know how I feel about it. They pretty much showed us everything didn’t they? I don’t like the reappearance of Carter Burwell’s western Twilight showdown theme. It bothered me at the midnight now of Twilight, and it bothers me knowing I’m about to be bothered again. At least the production values look better…amazing in fact. Anyway here’s the Cliff’s Notes version of New Moon.

And here’s Death Cab For Cutie’s Meet Me on the Equinox. I think I like it. I don’t picture it playing during the movie, but I could be wrong. It just seems like a credits song. Nothing wrong with that.

Thanks, YouTube.  I appreciate you letting watch all these things that I miss when I’m away from the boob tube. And I’ve already forgotten where I got these particular vids. Sorry. I imagine you can figure it out somehow if you need to.

EDIT 19Sep09: Thanks TwilightSaga for the new Death Cab For Cutie vid. The other one got taken down.

Random Page Experiment

I’ve had a general malaise lately. There are a variety of reasons, none of which I’ll mention here. I’m working on resolving my issues, and it’s time to get back on the horse, or blog, rather. Thanks to all who have kept checking back. I appreciate you. Just so you have something new to read, and so everything isn’t dreadfully old if My Favorite Unicorn decides to stalk me, here my newest idea. We’ll see how it goes. From time to time I’m going to pick up one of the books, turn to a random page, and just blog about whatever comes to mind. Today’s page is 164 of Twilight. I opened the book up and this was the first thing I saw.

Edward sighed, and finally opened his eyes.

“Better?”

“Not really.”

I waited, but be didn’t speak again. He leaned his head back against the seat, staring at the ceiling of the car. His face was ridged.

I had to flip back a page or two. I knew exactly what was going on. Edward and Bella were in the Volvo, just after he had saved her from the gang in Port Angeles, but I couldn’t remember if the car was stopped yet. Yes, Edward had driven them out of town and pulled off the road. He had already told Bella to distract him, and she had already admitted her plans to maim Tyler Crowley. LOL, I love that. I really wish that had been in the movie. Sigh.

This scene is very telling. They have bearly scratched the surface of each other’s secrets and already they are both protecting each other in their own way. Edward is over-reacting and having a hard time controlling his rage. Bella is trusting and doing what she can to make everything seem okay for Edward’s sake. Edward reminds me of another Edward I know: Edward from Pretty Woman. Remember at the end of the movie when he asks Vivian what happens when the Prince rescues the Princess and she says she rescues him right back? That’s exactly what this reminds me of. Edward has rescued Bella twice at this point, and now we see more of how Bella is rescuing him right back. Of course we know a lot more of this side of things from the bit of Midnight Sun we’ve been blessed enough to read, but just taking Twilight into consideration we can see how Bella has always been a Shield, how she’s always protected those she loves.

Man I need to read these books again. This experiment could be dangerous.
