The Latest on Eclipse and Breaking Dawn Casting

There have been updates. I am reminding you to check my Auditions page. Many of you are finding much older posts, begging for info, and missing the Auditions page completely. I’ve made some arrows pointing at it. I hope that helps.

It seems that in my absence the Main Principal Actor Casting Director was posted and taken down because people were looking up phone numbers and calling the office when they were told NO PHONE CALLS. I’ll post whatever info I find here, but it will only be up as long as I’m allowed to have it up. Please follow the rules Acting411 sets. As I said on my Auditions page, it would be a shame if some really great talent didn’t get a chance to audition because they couldn’t find the info. We want the best movie possible. Please follow the rules.

EDIT 17Jun09: This thread is now closed. Please see my Auditions page.

Channing Tatum as Riley

Channing Tatum To Eclipse Twilight?

Channing Tatum To Eclipse Twilight?
Channing Tatum is being touted as bad-boy vampire Riley in Eclipse, the third in Stephenie Meyer’s four-book Twilight series.DO YOU THINK Channing would make a good vampire — YAY or NAY?

“There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well,” Twilight and New Moon screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who is currently writing the Eclipse script, tells E!’s Marc Malkin. “And there are some complexities to that character. He really is tragic. He’s a puppet for Victoria [bad-girl vampire played by Rachelle Lefevre]. So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn’t want him. Channing could do that beautifully.”

The 29-year-old actor has his new flick, Fighting, in theaters NOW.

I say YAY (OK so I picked him for Felix, but YAY someone else is thinking he’d make a good vampire)!

Why Bella Isn’t Weak

All over the internet I run into articles complaining about Twilight, saying it sets a terrible example for young girls because the heroine, Bella Swan, is so weak. I was shocked when I first read this, and continue to be shocked that so many people seem to agree. So here’s me, going to bat for Bella.

The first thing we learned about Bella was that she was a survivor and she was inventive. She did not wallow in self-pity for having a flighty mom. She took over those aspects of life that Renee was not managing, even going so far as to look after Renee. This created a Bella who is wise beyond her years. When Renee remarried, she was able to look at the situation from a more adult point of view. She saw that Renee would be more miserable away from Phil than she herself would be in Forks for less than a year (until she was 18 and could live on her own), so she proposed the move and made the arrangements. Because of this take charge attitude and ability to rise to the top in a difficult situation, Bella had already lived a human adult life, in a way, so would not missing much in that regard by becoming vampire. She was not throwing away her life to be with her boyfriend forever. She had lived her life and paved the way to make her dreams come true on her own.
